What we do

IMG_3214.jpg

Thank you for visiting our site.  We LOVE our puppies, and hope you will too.

We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area.  We strive to produce "English" or bench bred labradors that can fit into any home or environment.  Our dogs live in our home with us on 5 acres.  We love taking our dogs everywhere we are allowed to take them, including restaurants, breweries, wineries, coffee shops, and of course out for hikes and walks on the beach.  We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful and dog friendly place.

Our pups are $3000-$3500 and sold on Limited Registration

Health Testing and Guarantee

All of our dogs are health tested, which includes DNA testing and OFA hips, elbows, eyes and heart.  We provide a 2 year genetic health guarantee for our pups, as well as lifetime breeder support.

Training and Started Puppies

We are also professional dog trainers and offer discounted boarding and training services for our dogs in the San Francisco Bay Area.  We keep a couple puppies back form each litter and usually have a "started puppy" available.  These puppies have been crate trained, started in their leash training, recalls and place bed training, as well as tons of socialization.  Check out our "Adults and Started Puppies Available" section if you're interested in skipping the puppy phase.

How to Reserve

To place a deposit for a pup, please visit our Puppy Questionnaire so we can get to know you a little better.  Once your application is approved, you can submit a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit.  This deposit goes towards the total cost of your puppy.  We take deposits through Venmo, PayPal, Zelle or check.  Once your deposit is received, you will be placed on our master list for the litter of your choosing.  If for some reason we don't have a pup for you from that litter, your deposit can be transferred to a different litter within 18 months.

Our Puppy Raising Process

After puppies are born, we will notify families for them to start to make plans for their new puppy.  We post pictures and videos of our process on our Instagram and Facebook pages, so that's a great way to watch them grow.  Our pups are weighed daily during their first week to make sure everyone is thriving.  Our moms get supplements and constant monitoring to make sure they are happy and healthy moms.  On day 3, we start Early Scent Introduction (ESI) and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS).  This has been shown to help create a more robust puppy that is better able to handle stress later in life.

Our pups move out of the whelping box around 3 weeks old.  At this time we start the basics of potty training.  We want our pups to learn to eat, play and sleep in one area, and to use the bathroom in another.  We train our pups to use pine pellets from about 3-5 weeks, and then at 5 weeks they are ready to learn about using the dog door to relieve themselves outside.

This is also the age that we start to introduce them to lots of new sounds, smells, sights, toys, surfaces, etc.  This age is a critical period for development.  We love watching our pups grow and learn about the world.

Crate Training

We start introducing our pups to crate training around 5-6 weeks old, and continue to work on their crate training until they go home.  We highly recommend continuing their crate training after your pup goes home.  This helps with their transition and is a great way to manage your puppy while they are potty training and keeps them from getting into too much trouble.  Check out our page on CRATE TRAINING for tips on training your new pup.

Vaccines and Wellness

At 5 weeks old, we vaccinate at home with NeoPar for Parvo.  This is the age where mom's immunity from her milk is starting to wear off, and we want to make sure our pups are protected.

Our puppies are wormed every 2,4,6 &8 weeks.  We treat preemptively for Giardia and Coccidia, two parasites that are common in young puppies.

Our puppies will be seen by a vet around 7 weeks old for their wellness exam and given their first round of their DHPP vaccine.

Puppy Picks

We will start their temperament testing around 7 weeks, as well as take stacked photos to get an idea of their structure.  At this point, we determine which puppies we will hold back for our program.  Puppies will be picked in order of deposits received.  We will try to guide you as best as we can for the right puppy for your family, but it is ultimately your choice.

Picking up your Pup!

We will schedule puppy pick-ups over the weekend anytime after they are 8-9 weeks old.  You will be scheduled an hour slot which will be arranged when the pups are a few weeks old.  At this point, you can come visit the pups to choose who will be your newest four legged family member.  If you are unable to come pick in person, we can do a Zoom or FaceTime to help you choose.  We prefer not to ship cargo, but can under the right circumstances if other travel arrangements aren't possible.  Most of our out of town families fly into SFO or Oakland Airports.  We are also close to the Sonoma County Airport (STS) that offers some west coast flights as well.

We will hold your puppy back for a week after the go home weekend free of charge, but any longer than that we will charge a boarding fee of $40/day.

Remaining balance of your pup is required before the pup goes home.  We only accept cash unless otherwise arranged.  The cost of our puppies is $3000.

AKC Limited Registration

All of our pups are registered with the AKC on Limited Registration, meaning they will not be sold with breeding rights.

Your Puppy is home!

Your pup is finally home!  This is an exciting time, but can also be stressful on a new pup.  We highly recommend you keep your puppy's diet only to their kibble for their first few days.  Lots of new treats can cause stomach upset which can lead to a flourish of parasites in your puppy's gut.  Try to keep the first few days in their new home calm and quiet for your new pup as they settle in.

For our health guarantee, we require your pup sees your vet for a clean bill of health within three (3) business days of coming home.  We are not liable for any medical or veterinary expenses for parasites including worms, Giardia or Coccidia.

We have lots of products that we recommend for our new puppies and their owners, from crates, to treats to health supplements.  Visit our Favorites page to check out all of our favorites.

We offer lifetime support to all of our puppies and owners, including puppy training and training advise, as well as access to our training videos.  We LOVE to hear feedback about our pups and watch them grow with their new families.

If for any reason you are unable to keep your Moonlight Lab, we will always take our dogs back at any point.
